Have you ever considered the consequences of hating someone? If you knew it, you will be merciful and forgiving.
1 John 2:11 talks about the consequences of hatred. “But he that HATETH his brother is in DARKNESS, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”
The word “hate” means to have an extreme dislike for someone. You can understand this verse better by relating it to what happens when power goes off suddenly at night. Within a second, everything becomes dark around you. You may not be blind, but you would immediately have a feel of it. You may begin to walk in the darkness as you try to locate a light source like your mobile phone. You cannot see so progress becomes slow. You may even bump into things because of the darkness.
When you are in spiritual darkness, you will lack revelation because you cannot see. You may not understand your bible when you read it, and it will be difficult for you to communicate with God. Your progress in spiritual things will be slow, and finally, you will be robbed of vision - you cannot tell where you are going.
It is inimical to hate someone because the consequences are disastrous.
FORGIVE YOUR ENEMIES!
